We stand by our values

An important note from our CEO, Laurie Halloran.

This past Friday, President Trump issued an executive order on immigration that indefinitely barred Syrian refugees from entering the United States, suspended all refugee admissions, and blocked citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, refugees or otherwise, from entering the United States.

Halloran believes this order unjustly targets citizens of Muslim-majority nations, and we stand firmly against any and all discriminatory actions that threaten the values of our company.  We will not discriminate on the basis of country of origin nor any other “classification” that only exists to divide. All are equal, and our differences make us better and stronger.

As leaders, we have a responsibility to speak for those who cannot or will not. While we support the Special Olympics, the Boston Food Bank, and other charities, we have tread lightly on corporate activism – wary of the consequences. However, this is not the first time we have felt compelled to take a stand. In 2015, Halloran decided to limit doing business with vendors in Indiana based on the actions of the state government that failed to protect the rights of LGBT customers. In 2016, we enacted the same limitations on vendors based in North Carolina for the infamous bathroom law.

In 2017, we will take specific actions to support the values we believe are the foundation of our company.  We believe in science, and Halloran will continue to support the voice of the scientific community. We will also manage corporate spending with these values in mind.

There is neither reason nor excuse for these unconscionable acts.  That is why we feel compelled to add our voice to this important conversation.  We stand in solidarity.
